Jefferson County has a population of 65,347 and the county seat is Pine Bluff. The county boasts state-of-the art roads, rail, barge port with a designated Foreign Trade Zone, two established industrial parks, regional airport, four-year university, and a two-year college. The Pine Bluff Regional Airport is jet capable with a 6,000 ft. lighted, asphalt runway with ILS and available charter services. For commercial airport needs, Jefferson County is only 42 miles south, or less than one hour away from, Bill & Hillary Clinton National Airport located in Little Rock, the state’s capital city. Situated within a network of highways and roads, the largest being I-530 that connects the county with Little Rock, Jefferson County offers a multimodal logistics infrastructure ideal for businesses needing to connect easily within the region and around the world.

The county hosts a diverse industrial base. Employers range from agricultural product value-add to machinery manufacturers and includes scientific research labs. The county is also a leading producer of cotton, soybeans, rice, poultry, and timber.

Jefferson County is the trade, entertainment, recreation, and healthcare center for Southeast Arkansas. Recently, there have been several new development projects. Construction is complete for the new Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library located in downtown Pine Bluff. The new Saracen Casino & Resort is open, and construction on the hotel will begin this year.The newly built Pine Bluff Aquatics Center is open, and construction is underway on the downtown Pine Bluff streetscape project.
